Bangladesh National Football Team midfielder Hamza Choudhury, women's football star Ritu Porna Chakma and hockey player Amirul Islam have been shortlisted for the prestigious Kool-BSPA Sportsperson of the Year Award 2025.
The nominations were announced on Monday at a press conference at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) ahead of the 'Kool-BSPA Sports Award 2025' ceremony, scheduled for 22 May at the Grand Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.
The winners of both the Sportsperson of the Year and Popular Choice Award categories will be revealed on the day of the ceremony.
Alongside the top award nominations, Hamza Choudhury, Ritu Porna Chakma, cricketer Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Amirul Islam were also shortlisted for the Popular Choice Award.
This year, 14 current and former athletes, organisers and institutions will be honoured across 15 categories, with cash rewards also included.
Among the other notable award recipients are women's football coach Peter Butler as Coach of the Year, archery organiser Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol as Organiser of the Year and Prime Bank PLC as Best Sponsor.
The details were disclosed by BSPA officials and Square Toiletries Limited GM (Marketing) Dr Jesmin Zaman at the presser.
The Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA)introduced the country's first sports awards in 1964.
