Natore expects trade of 5.5 lakh sacrificial animal hides

NATORE, May 18: The district administration here anticipates that 5 lakh 50 thousand pieces of sacrificial cattle skins will be bought and sold in the wholesale market of the district this time following the festival of Eid-ul-Azha.
This information was given at  a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asma Shahin regarding skin business in the DC office conference room recently.
There is a big wholesale market for skin buying and selling in Chalkboiddanathpur area in the Natore town. Traders come here from 36 districts for doing skin business regularly. That is why skin trading remains full of grandeur all the time.
According to expectation, a total of 5.50 lakh skins of sacrificial animals will be used for business purpose. Of them 2.50 lakh skins are cows and buffalo while 3.00 lakh are goat and sheep.
During this time, DC Asma Shahin said traders from 36 districts come here for skin business purpose every year. For this she advised persons concerned to process skin carefully so that its quality remains intact.
She assured that salt will be supplied at fair price to process raw leather. Besides, all-time electric supply will be ensured for this purpose. 
On the other hand, Md. Syedar Khan, President of Natore Skin Traders Association, said there are more than 100 shops and establishments in the district for skin trading purpose. Of them 70 shops are active. He expected the quantity of raw skin will increase this time. It may exceed the usual target.
