NARAYANGANJ, May 22: Nazrul Islam Azad, BNP's Assistant Organising Secretary for Dhaka Division and lawmaker from Narayanganj-2 constituency, has demanded the immediate arrest of and trial for those involved in the killing of Brahmandi Union BNP General Secretary Osman Gani in Araihazar.

"Regardless of which political party the killers belong to, no one should be spared. They must be brought under the law and given exemplary punishment," he said.

He made the remarks while attending the Janaza of the slain BNP leader on the Binayerchar Madrasa ground in Araihazar Upazila around 9:30pm on Thursday.

Osman Gani was hacked to death around 12:45am on Wednesday, triggering tension and grief in the area.
Before the Janaza prayers, the BNP leader urged the Narayanganj superintendent of police to identify the attackers using modern technology.

He said suspected individuals should be traced through mobile phone tracking to confirm their locations at the time of the incident and ensure the swift arrest of the actual perpetrators.

"The administration now has access to various technologies. Osman Gani was killed in a planned manner. Those involved in this brutal murder must not be spared," he said, calling for a speedy investigation and trial.

Several thousand people attended the Janaza. Leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies from different unions of Araihazar, along with a large number of local residents, were present.
