Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) continued its extensive waste removal operation for the second consecutive day of Eid-ul-Azha on Friday to ensure the speedy disposal of sacrificial animal waste and temporary cattle market garbage across the capital’s southern areas.
DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam said the waste management activities were being carried out in full swing, similar to the day of Eid, with a commitment to removing all waste within the shortest possible time for the convenience of city dwellers.
In the morning, the administrator visited the temporary cattle market at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony and inspected the ongoing cleaning activities. During the visit, he directed the officials and workers concerned to complete the operation quickly and efficiently.
Abdus Salam said the waste removal target for the second day of Eid had been set at 11,776 tonnes and expressed hope that the target would be achieved within the stipulated time through the coordinated efforts of conservancy workers, transport staff and relevant departments.
According to DSCC sources, a total of 14,814 tonnes of sacrificial waste had been dumped at the Matuail landfill site by midnight on Eid day.
To ensure quick waste disposal during Eid-ul-Azha, the city corporation deployed additional manpower, vehicles, containers and cleaning equipment across its jurisdiction. A special monitoring team has also been deployed to supervise the entire operation.
