Three killed in two districts

Three people were killed in separate incidents in Noakhali and Narayanganj districts in two days.

NOAKHALI: Two persons were killed in separate incidents in the district on Saturday night.
Miscreants beat a young man to death with an iron rod in the Pakmunshirhat Bazar area of Khanpur Village in Sharifpur Union of Begumganj Upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The deceased Jobair Hossain alias Rakib, 23, was the son of Saudi expatriate Md Hanif of the village.

It is alleged that after the attackers hit Rakib in various parts of his head and body, he was seriously injured and rushed to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where he was declared dead.

On the other hand, Md Kamal Uddin, 50, a businessman, died while trying to stop a fight between two parties over a gambling den in Ward No. 3 of Dadpur Union in Noakhali Sadar Upazila on Saturday night. 

The family claims that his opponents killed him. However, the police found no injury marks on his body. He was the son of late Md Soleiman of the area. 

According to local sources, Kamal's son Tarek and nephew Farhad along with Roni and Shamu of Minu Ali Haji's house next door set up a gambling den behind Lachi Sardar's house during the Eid-ul-Azha holiday. Farhad got into an argument with the people of the neighbouring house that triggered a fight between the people of the two parties on Saturday night. At that time, when Kamal tried to stop the fight, some people led by Imam Uddin of Minu Ali Haji's house allegedly ambushed Kamal and he fell ill. Later, his family members rushed him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where he was declared dead.

NARAYANGANJ: A young man was killed in a clash between a pickup driver and a helper over withdrawing money from a bKash account in Khidirpur area of Sadipur of Sonargaon on Wednesday night. 

Deceased Emon Hasan, 18, was the son of Dulal Mia of Isdair area in Siddhirganj Police Station of Narayanganj, and a helper for a pickup. Police arrested pickup driver Ekhlasuddin in this incident. 

According to police and local sources, a fight broke out between driver Ekhlasuddin and helper Emon over withdrawing Tk 8,500 from the pickup driver's bKash account. At one stage, it led to a scuffle. Emon Hasan was seriously injured. Later, local people took him to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
