Five people were found dead in Pirojpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Moulvibazar and Bogura districts on Tuesday.
BHANDARIA, PIROJPUR: Police recovered the floating body of an unidentified youth, 35, from a pond next to the Bhandaria-Kathalia regional highway on the eastern side of Poukkhali Bazar in Gouripur Union of Bhandaria Upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
The police and local sources said that the police recovered the body and seized two pairs of plastic sandals and a vest from the spot.
Locals believe that the youth was killed 4/5 days ago and the body was dumped in the pond. However, no confirmed information has been received yet about the actual cause of death.
Bhandaria Police Station (PS) OC (Investigation) Kumar Mandal said that the body was sent to the Pirojpur District Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
NAGESHWARI, KURIGRAM: Locals recovered the body of a young man on Tuesday noon after he went missing in the Dudhkumar River in Nageshwari Upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.
The deceased Abdur Razzak, 26, was the son of Chhapaddi Hossain of Miapara area of Bamandanga.
Locals said that on Monday afternoon, Abdur Razzak went to take a bath in the river along with his friends, near the house of Ansar Bepari, west of the Aynal ghat. At that time, others saw that Razzak was drowning in the water. Despite many attempts, they could not save him.
After much searching, no trace of him was found that day. His body was found floating on the bank of the river in Kutibamondanga, about 2.5 kilometers downstream from the incident site, on Tuesday noon. Locals informed the family, who in turn recovered the body. Bamondanga UP Chairman Asaduzzaman Roni confirmed the incident.
GAIBANDHA: Police recovered the hanging body of a mentally imbalanced man from a tree at Rampura Village under Horirampur Union in Gobindaganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
Deceased Abdur Rashid Sheikh, 52, was the son of late Mofazzal Sheikh of the village.
Local sources said, the deceased went missing from the house few days ago. Being informed by the local people, the police recovered the body and sent it to Gaibandha General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj PS Mojammel Haque said the cause of the death is being investigated.
KAMALGANJ, MOULVIBAZAR: Police have recovered the hanging body of a young man from Purba Balarampur Village of Patan Ushar Union in Kamalganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased Ramzan Ali, 42, was the son of late Ansar Ali of that village.
According to local sources, Ramzan Ali returned to the country due to illness after being abroad for a long time. Since then he had been having a dispute with his wife over various family issues. His in-laws took his wife to their house on Monday morning. On Tuesday morning, family members found Ramzan hanging from the ceiling of his house. He was rushed to the local health centre, where he was declared dead.
Kamalganj PS OC Abdul Awal said, "The body has been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Further legal action will be taken based on the investigation."
SHERPUR, BOGURA: The police recovered the body of a housewife named Nilufa Akhter, 22, from inside the house in Darimukunda Uttarpara Village of Shahbandegi Union in Sherpur Upazila of the district early Tuesday. The other house inmates have not been found since the incident.
According to police and local sources, the deceased's husband Ekhlas Ali, who is a truck driver's assistant, was not at home at that time. Neighbours saw Nilufa's body lying on the floor covered with a cloth on Monday night. On information, the police recovered the body and sent it to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Sub-Inspector of Sherpur PS Zahidul Islam said that they found hang marks on the neck. The absence of family members is also being investigated.
