PIROJPUR, June 6: "Ticket sales are not the only measure of people's love," said Principal Alamgir Hossain, Central BNP Member and District Council Administrator, while addressing a programme as the chief guest to mark the 45th death anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman on Saturday morning in the town.

The event was organised by the district unit of Bangladesh Krishak Dal on their party office premises. District Krishak Dal President Nasir Ahmed Baschu presided over the meeting, while District BNP Member Secretary SM Kismat attended it as special guest. The programme included a discussion meeting, distribution of food among the poor, special prayers, and distribution of tree saplings.

Speakers at the event stated that Islamic scholars do not recognise Jamaat as a genuine Islamic or Muslim-friendly party. They further claimed that certain groups only use religious sentiments to secure votes from innocent people. The speakers also announced plans to plant five crore trees across the country over the next five years to make Bangladesh green and environmentally friendly. Secretary Md. Habib Khan also spoke on the occasion.
