Five people, including a couple, were found dead in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi District and Santhia Upazila of Pabna District and Gopalganj and Noakhali districts in two days.
BAGHA, RAJSHAHI: Police recovered the bodies of a van puller Monirul Islam, 45, and his wife Swapna Begum, 38, from their bedroom in Arifpur Village of Bajubagha Union in Bagha Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
It is known that Monirul pulled the van all day long on Monday and came home in the evening. No one lives in this house except husband and wife. A bottle of weed killing poison was found next to their bodies. The police believe that both of them may have committed suicide by consuming this poison. Monirul Islam was the son of late Jamal Uddin, a freedom fighter of Arifpur Village.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagha Police Station (PS) Serazul Haque said that the body was sent to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
SANTHIA, PABNA: Police have recovered the hanging body of a young man from the house of a Libyan expatriate Badsha Hossain in Raghunathpur area of Ataikula Union in Santhia Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased Alif, 25, was the son of late Roiz Sheikh of Raghunathpur Village.
Police have taken Badsha’s wife Asmani Khatun, 23, to the police station for questioning and a case is under process, said Ataikula PS OC Mojibur Rahman.
Police and local sources said that Alif went to the woman's house on Monday night and he was found hanging on Tuesday at 9 am. Later, the police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
OC Mojibur Rahman said that the incident could have happened due to extramarital affair.
GOPALGANJ: Police recovered a child’s body from an abandoned pond of one Awlad Molla at Kamalapur Village in Muksudpur Upazila of the district early Tuesday.
The deceased Rian Molla, 13, was the son of Ripon Molla of Kamalapur Madhyapara Village.
Police have arrested Arif Mia, 20, son of Dulal Molla, and Mursalin Sheikh, 16, son of Rabiul Sheikh, of the same village in this incident.
Muksudpur PS OC Abdullah Al Mamun said that Rian climbed a coconut tree to collect green coconut in the garden of Awlad Molla along with Arif and Mursalin on Sunday last from where he fell into the pond. Arif and Mursalin searched there but did not find Rian and returned home without informing anyone.
Rian's body was recovered after searching the pond. Later, the police sent it to the morgue for an autopsy.
NOAKHALI: The river police have recovered the body of an unidentified person from Degirchar in Jahazmara Union of Hatiya Upazila of the district on Monday.
Police and locals said that the unidentified person was wearing underwear and a half T-shirt. The body's face was distorted. Initially, it is believed that the body was swept away by tidal water from the Meghna River and got trapped in the forest.
Hatiya PS OC Md Kabir Hossain said that the body was sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The police are working to identify the victim and determine the cause of death.
