Newly elected Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Mir Shakhrul Alam Simanta resigned from his position on Monday, just one day after being elected unopposed from the Rajshahi region.
Simanta submitted his resignation letter to the BCB President, citing business commitments and family responsibilities as the reason for stepping down.
In his resignation letter, he stated that although he had been elected unopposed as a director from the Rajshahi region in the BCB election held on Sunday, it would not be possible for him to properly fulfil the responsibilities of the post.
He noted that his father, Mir Shahe Alam, is the State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and that significant responsibilities related to the family's business operations currently rest on him.
Considering the importance of the Bangladesh Cricket Board as a national institution, Simanta said he had decided to resign from the director's position in the interest of the organisation and from a sense of responsibility. He also requested the BCB President to accept his resignation.
