Prime accused in youth killing case nabbed

KHULNA, June 11: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 arrested the prime accused in a murder case filed over the killing of a youth by a mob in Paikgachha Upazila of the district within 24 hours of the case being lodged.

According to a RAB press release, an RAB-6 Special Company team raided an automobile showroom at Glasgow crossingon Khan Jahan Ali Road in the Khulna city on Tuesday afternoon based on a tip-off and arrested Md Nazmul Huda, 37, of Paikgachha. 

The release said that Nazmul Huda, along with other accused, allegedly attacked Hasan alias King, 35, of Chandkhali area in Chandkhali Union of Paikgachha, at around 6:30 pm on June 7 over buying and selling of narcotics and an attempt to establish dominance in the area, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to Paikgachha Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Following the incident, the deceased’s father Abdul Malek Sardar filed a murder case with Paikgacha Police Station (PS). The arrested accused was handed over to Paikgacha PS for further legal action, the RAB said.
