BNP district units elated over proposed budget

Leaders and activists of BNP held celebratory rallies and processions across the country on Friday, including Sonargaon in Narayanganj and Sylhet, to welcome the proposed national budget for the 2026�"27 fiscal year, describing it as development-focused, people-friendly and forward-looking. 

SONARGAON (N’GANJ): Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists, along with members of its associate bodies, brought out a celebratory procession and distributed sweets in Sonargaon of Narayanganj to welcome what they described as the first budget presented by a BNP-led government after 17 years.

The procession was held on Thursday evening in the Mograpara Chourasta area.

The programme was organised under the guidance of Narayanganj-3 MP Azharul Islam Mannan and coordinated by Khairul Islam Sajib, Senior Joint Convener of Narayanganj District Jubo Dal.

From the afternoon, leaders and activists of BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and other affiliated organisations gathered at Mograpara Chourasta carrying banners, festoons and placards. The area echoed with slogans as participation steadily increased.

Later, following directions from MP Mannan and Jubo Dal leader Sajib, the procession marched along key roads connected to the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway before concluding peacefully.

Sweets were distributed among participants and local residents after the rally.

Among those present were Sonargaon Upazila BNP Joint General Secretary Ataur Rahman, BNP leaders Nure Yasin Nobel, Shahid Sarkar, Sadikur Rahman Sentu, Harunur Rashid Mithu, Hazrat Ali Rana, Khorshed Alam, Jasim Uddin and Omar Faruk Titu, as well as Jubo Dal leaders Rakib Hasan, Babul and Mehedi Hasan, alongside other leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations.

The procession concluded peacefully after parading through several roads along the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.
SYLHET: District BNP brought out a procession on Friday afternoon from the historic Court Point area. The rally marched through the city's major thoroughfares before concluding at the Central Shaheed Minar, where a public gathering was held.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, National Parliament Whip and BNP Organising Secretary GK Gaus MP said the party-led government had presented the largest national budget in the country's history.

"The budget approved under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is centred on public welfare, economic recovery and strengthening state capacity," he said.

He added that allocations for health, education, employment generation and institutional reforms reflected a clear roadmap for building a modern and equitable state.

Presiding over the programme, Sylhet District BNP President and Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury said the Tk 9.38 lakh crore budget was the first budget of the current government and aimed at boosting investment, expanding employment opportunities, easing business regulations and developing human resources.

The programme was conducted by Sylhet District BNP General Secretary and Sylhet-6 lawmaker Advocate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury.

Among others present were district BNP Vice-Presidents Shahjamal Nurul Huda, Mahbubur Rob Chowdhury Faisal and Nazim Uddin Laskar; adviser Kamrul Hasan Shaheen; joint secretaries Advocate Hasan Ahmed Patwari Ripon, Siddiqur Rahman Paplu, Tajrul Islam Tajul, Anwar Hossain Manik, Abul Kashem, Abdul Ahad Khan Jamal, Shakil Morshed and Jasim Uddin; organisational secretaries Shamim Ahmed, Shahidul Haque Suhel, Mahbub Alam, Arjun Ghosh, Monirul Islam Turon, Dr Nazim Uddin, Sumel Ahmed Chowdhury, Raihan H Khan, Ashraful Alam Bahar, Zuber Ahmed and Abdul Mutakabbir Saki, among others.
