LAXMIPUR, Oct 15: Minister for Water Resources Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee has said that education is not confined to education alone; education enhances the power of thought; education creates a distinction between truth and falsehood, and between the dissemination of information and bias.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a fresher's reception programme held at Laxmipur Government College on Thursday at noon.
The minister said that along with education, the newcomers must maintain morality, be responsible and keep themselves engaged in human welfare and the welfare of society.
He further said, “Today is the age of AI. In our time there was not even electronic media, nor were there smartphones. How you will use AI depends on your own skills and intentions. With AI technology, you can take assistance from teachers. But in our time we had to take private lessons, go to coaching. But many opportunities have been created for you during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Today, if you try through AI, reaching the target point is very easily possible”.
The programme was presided over by Professor Md Yusuf, Principal of Laxmipur Government College. Among the special guests were District Commissioner SM Mehedi Hasan, Superintendent of Police Md Abu Tarek, Director of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Cumilla region, Professor Md Shahidullah Mazumder, District BNP Joint Convener Hasibur Rahman, and Bangladesh Football Federation Vice-President Wahiduddin Chowdhury Happy.
