The Russian Embassy in Dhaka hosted a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Russia on June 12, 2026.
The event brought together the representatives of Bangladesh government and parliament, diplomats, military officials, journalists, and graduates of Soviet and Russian universities, said a press release on Saturday.
In his opening remarks, Vyacheslav Sentyurin, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Russia to Bangladesh, highlighted the key achievements of the first half of 2026, which has already been fruitful in terms of Russia-Bangladesh relations.
The chief guest of the reception Dr Md Nazrul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, underscored Russia’s intellectual and cultural heritage. In terms of bilateral relations, he reaffirmed Bangladesh’s firm commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Russian Federation.
The performance of Alabuga Folk Song and Dance Ensemble crowned the evening. The artists, who came straight from the Republic of Tatarstan, entertained the audience with dances, instrumental compositions, folk and modern songs of their region. Thus, the guests of the Russian Embassy could appreciate spiritual and cultural traditions of one of Russia’s largest ethnicities, the Tatars.
