14,384 asstt pry teachers to join on Oct 1

A total of 14,384 assistant teachers, finally selected under the ‘Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2025’ process, will join the respective district primary education offices on October 1 and be posted to their assigned government primary schools on October 4.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj disclosed the information during the question-answer session of Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting.

Responding to a question from MP Md Selim Reza, the state minister said the 14,384 candidates had been finally selected for appointment to government primary schools. After completing the formalities at the respective district primary education offices, they will be posted to their designated schools.

The minister also informed Parliament that 36,960 posts of head teachers are currently vacant in government primary schools.

He said the process of filling the vacant head teacher posts through promotion of eligible teachers is underway following the disposal of Writ Petition No. 73/2023 by the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the government is considering introducing double shifts at individual educational institutions where necessary to address student pressure.

In response to a question from Pabna-5 MP Md Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Hajjaj said there was no plan to introduce double shifts simultaneously in all educational institutions in Dhaka and other divisional and district-level areas.
