No specific security concerns over AL anniv on June 23: DMP

The authorities of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that there were no specific security concerns ahead of the founding anniversary of Awami League, whose activities remain banned in Bangladesh, on June 23, 2026. 


DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Nazrul Islam said this while addressing a press conference held at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road in the capital at 11:00am on Friday, June 19, 2026.


 “June 23 is the founding anniversary of a political party. We are on alert centring on the occasion,” he said.

The DMP official also said that necessary security measures have already been taken, as in the past, to ensure the safety of city dwellers. Security checkpoints remain in operation at various locations and the activities will continue.
