KHULNA, June 19: Chief Coordinator (SDG) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and noted educationist Principal S M Abdul Awal on Thursday inspected ongoing canal excavation and land development works adjacent to the Rostompur Ashrayan Project in Dumuria Upazila of Khulna.

During the visit, he said the government is working to ensure sustainable rehabilitation of landless and homeless people across the country through the Ashrayan Project.

He said the canal excavation and land filling activities would play a significant role in improving the living standards of Ashrayan residents, reducing waterlogging and maintaining environmental balance.

“The project must be completed within the stipulated timeframe while ensuring quality standards,” he added.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Hoore Jannat attended the programme as special guest.

She said the canal excavation would improve the area’s drainage system, while the developed land would create new employment opportunities and better living conditions for the project beneficiaries.

Among others, Dumuria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabita Sarkar and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Amit Kumar Biswas accompanied the inspection team during the visit.

After the inspection, the officials visited different sections of the project area and exchanged views with local beneficiaries and concerned authorities.

The UNO and Assistant Commissioner (Land) briefed the visiting officials on the current progress of the work and outlined future implementation plans.

Officials said the project aims to ensure sustainable settlement for landless families while improving basic infrastructure such as drainage, land use planning and environmental management in the area.

The visiting officials expressed satisfaction over the progress of the development works and stressed timely completion with proper coordination among all implementing agencies.
