Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has thwarted an alleged Indian Border Security Force (BSF) attempt to push four people into Bangladesh through the Meherpur border and seven people were also pushed back through the Meherpur and Lalmonirhat on Friday.

In Meherpur, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has thwarted an alleged attempt to push four people into Bangladesh through the Meherpur border.

The move was made through Khalpara of Buripota border in Sadar Upazila, according to Lt Col Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of BGB-6 Battalion.

The incident occurred before dawn on Friday. The BGB moved into position after local residents reported unusual activity across the zero line near the border.

According to the BGB, the Natna Border Security Force (BSF) camp under Tehatta Police Station in India's Nadia district is located opposite the area.

After being alerted by residents, BGB personnel monitored the border and spotted four people near the frontier.

In Lalmonirhat, the BSF also tried to push three people through Kalirhat in Patgram, Lalmonirhat. However, the attempt was not successful due to the BGB's obstruction.

Locals spotted these individuals inside India near International Border Pillar 116, adjacent to the Zero Line of the border, early Friday morning.

According to local sources, four people were seen moving suspiciously across the border at Khalpara border of Buripota BOP in the early hours of the morning. When the matter came to light, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members took a cautious stance and strengthened surveillance at the border to prevent possible push-ins. It is said that the four could not enter Bangladesh due to the strict stance of the BGB.

Locals claim that one man and three women are among the people who tried to push them away. However, no confirmed information has been received yet about their identity, nationality, or where they were brought from. It is also not clear where they are currently located after the BGB's blockade.
