Attorney General (AG) Ruhul Kuddus Kajal said that there is currently no political pressure or external influence on the judiciary, adding that the government expects the courts to remain fully independent.

He made the remarks on Saturday at the annual general meeting of the Supreme Court Reporters Forum (SRF).

He said, “It is not possible to dispose of all cases in the conventional system. Because there is a shortage of many judges in the country.”

The Attorney General noted that the government has taken special initiatives to expedite the disposal of rape and murder cases, including the Ramisa case. “We must keep an eye on this issue so that justice is established through the courts, not through the media,” he added.

He also said that the Bar Council is taking disciplinary action against lawyers involved in posting content on TikTok, indicating regulatory measures within the legal profession.
