DU gardener dies falling from tree

A gardener of Dhaka University died after falling from a jackfruit tree while picking jackfruits on Tuesday morning at Ruqayyah Hall of the university.

The deceased is Chhiakul, 39, son of Royjul, of Naragati in Narail district.
He had been working as a gardener at Ruqayyah Hall.

Witnesses said Chhiakul climbed a jackfruit tree to pick jackfruits in the morning. At one stage, a jackfruit fell on his head, causing him to lose balance and fall from the tree, leaving him injured.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:30 am, said Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at the hospital, reports UNB.
