Expelled Jamaat-e-Islami leader and Satkhira-4 lawmaker Gazi Nazrul Islam was not invited to attend the first meet of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, even though he is still a member of the committee.

The meet was organized on Tuesday (August 18) under the chairmanship of committee chairman and BNP lawmaker Monirul Islam Chowdhury. The meet focused on the works of Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and its organizations.

Sources in the committee said that Gazi Nazrul was not invited to the meet. Chairman Monirul Islam Chowdhury said that Jamaat had let them know that Gazi Nazrul had been expelled from the party and that with the approval of the Speaker, he was not invited.

Jamaat expelled Gazi Nazrul from the party on July 22 after a video clip regarding his “private time” went viral on the social network. Later, Jamaat informed the Speaker and Chief Election Commissioner of this matter.
