The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in special drives, arrested 87 people on different charges across the capital.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Niaz Mehedi confirmed the information on Monday.
The arrests were made during day-long operations on Sunday. The detainees include one alleged extortionist, 37 suspects accused of involvement in terrorism, robbery, mugging and dacoity-related offences, and 49 alleged drug traffickers.
Police also recovered various types of narcotics during the drives.
The DMP said the special operations will continue to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in the capital.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway at the respective police stations.
