GOURIPUR, MYMENSINGH, June 29: A total of 3,690 small and marginal farmers, along with several educational institutions, received free seeds, fertilisers and saplings under the government's agricultural rehabilitation programme in Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh on Monday.
The distribution programme was inaugurated at the Upazila Agriculture Office premises, organised by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sunanda Sarkar Proma attended the event as the chief guest and handed over the agricultural inputs to the beneficiaries.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Extension Office, under the 2025-26 fiscal year's rehabilitation programme, 3,690 small and marginal farmers and institutions have been brought under the incentive scheme.
Among them, 3,300 farmers received five kilograms of Aman paddy seed, 10kg of DAP fertiliser and 10kg of MOP fertiliser each.
Another 300 farmers received seven packets of summer vegetable seeds, along with 15kg each of DAP and MOP fertilisers.
Seventy farmers cultivating chilli received seeds, 10kg each of DAP and MOP fertilisers, and two packets of pesticides each.
In addition, 20 farmers were provided with one kilogram of onion seed along with 10kg each of DAP and MOP fertilisers.
To promote environmental conservation and afforestation, 1,730 fruit and forest tree saplings, along with bamboo stakes, were also distributed among 87 educational institutions in the upazila.
The programme was chaired by Acting Upazila Agriculture Officer Kawsar Ahmad.
Among others, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers Md Shariful Islam and Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Gouripur Press Club President Beg Faruk Ahmad, and Upazila Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal General Secretary Kazi Enamul Haque also spoke at the event.
