A Dhaka court on Monday ordered former Jhenaidah-3 lawmaker Nabi Newaz to be shown arrested in a case over the killing of garment worker Rubel during the July 2024 mass uprising.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Mohammad Tipu Sultan, the investigating officer, submitted an application seeking to show him arrested in the case.

Newaz was produced before the court during the hearing and was later sent to jail.
