KHULNA, July 1: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju stressed the importance of regular eye care, saying timely vision tests, particularly for transport drivers, are essential for ensuring road safety.
“Eyes are one of the most valuable assets of human life. Those facing difficulty seeing near or distant objects should undergo eye examinations promptly and take necessary treatment,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest while inaugurating a vision screening and eyeglass distribution programme for KCC drivers, which was organised by the KCC with support from international voluntary organisation Vision Spring at Nagar Bhaban in the city on Wednesday.
The KCC administrator thanked Vision Spring for arranging the welfare initiative and said it would benefit city corporation drivers.
Officials said Vision Spring had earlier done eye examinations of and provided spectacles to nearly 1,000 transport drivers and workers at Sonadanga Bus Terminal in the city.
KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Secretary Md Reza Rashid, Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan and senior officials of the city corporation, along with Vision Spring representatives and local councillors, attended the programme.
Earlier in the day, Manju inaugurated the Rotary Club of Khulna Region’s Rupsha Team Year Launching Rally 2026-27 at Shaheed Hadis Park by releasing balloons and festoons.
