3-day ‘Nazrul Barsha’ celebration concludes in Rajbari

RAJBARI, July 4: A three-day programme marking the centenary celebration of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam concluded in Rajbari on Saturday with a discussion, prize-giving ceremony and cultural events.
The programme, organised jointly by the district administration and the District Shilpakala Academy, began on July 2 as part of the nationwide observance of Nazrul Centenary (2026-2027).
According to the organisers, the celebration was aimed at introducing the poet's literary works, music and cultural philosophy to the younger generation through a series of cultural and educational activities.
The programme began after the inauguration of the nationwide celebration by Chief Adviser Tareq Rahman through a video conference. Following the inauguration, local artistes performed group songs, solo songs and recitations at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's Office.
On July 3, the District Shilpakala Academy hosted day-long competitions, including dance, recitation, essay writing, debate and extempore speech, alongside contests based on the life and works of Nazrul.
Later that day, cultural organisations from across the district staged performances at Azadi Maidan in Rajbari town, drawing a large audience.
Among those present were Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parvin, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tarif Ul Hasan, Rajbari district BNP Joint Convener Gazi Ahsan Habib, District Red Crescent Vice-President Prof Monjurul Alam Dulal, senior district administration officials, political leaders, cultural activists, upazila administration officials and local residents.
