City corporation polls among 5 to be held in current FY

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam said five elections, including the city corporations, union parishads and municipalities, will be held within the current fiscal year.

The state minister made the statement while inspecting road construction work in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar on Friday noon.

During his visit, Shahe Alam inspected the construction of a building for sanitation workers, the relocation of the town’s waste dumping site and the Radhanagar-Mahajirabad road project.

He said initiatives have been taken to transform the tourism city of Moulvibazar, with a focus on infrastructure development, industrialisation, education, communication, environmental conservation and employment.

''Tk 1,000-crore project is being undertaken for the tourism city. The current government is working on an integrated plan to bring Moulvibazar back into the mainstream of national development.''
