Measles: 4 more die, 1,159 new cases reported in 24hrs

Four more children have died with suspected measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,159 new cases have been detected, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS disclosed the figures in a press release issued Friday (August 14) afternoon.
Of the four children who died during the period, all were classified as suspected measles deaths. Among the 1,159 newly identified cases, 187 were confirmed measles infections, while 972 were classified as suspected cases.
Since March 15, a total of 141,048 people across the country have been identified as suspected measles cases, while 17,730 have been confirmed to have the disease.
During the same period, 122,794 patients have been admitted to hospitals for measles-related treatment. Of them, 118,540 have since been discharged.
