
The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) and the US Embassy in Bangladesh jointly celebrated the 250th anniversary of US independence at the Sheraton Dhaka on Saturday, reaffirming the strong partnership between the two countries and their commitment to expanding trade, investment and economic cooperation.
Speaking at the event, Syed Mohammad Kamal, President of AmCham, highlighted the opportunities to increase bilateral trade and investment. He also reiterated AmCham's commitment to improving the business environment for US investors in Bangladesh.
Brent T Christensen, US Ambassador to Bangladesh, reaffirmed the United States' commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and praised AmCham for its role in promoting commercial ties between the two countries.
Mahdi Amin, Adviser and Spokesperson to the Prime Minister's Office, said Bangladesh offers strong investment potential and is carrying out reforms to ensure policy stability and a business-friendly environment.
He encouraged greater US investment in key sectors, saying it would help bring technology transfer and create employment opportunities.
The programme also featured a cultural performance showcasing American music to celebrate the shared values and cultural ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by Ala Ahmad, Vice President of AmCham and CEO of MetLife Bangladesh, who thanked all partners and participants.
It was moderated by Paul Frost, Commercial Counsellor at the US Embassy in Dhaka, and Reza Ur Rahman Mahmud, Treasurer of AmCham. Senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders and media representatives attended the programme.
