3 more die of measles

Three more children have died with symptoms of measles across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its regular measles situation report released on Monday.

The report noted that no new confirmed measles deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. Of the three children who died with measles symptoms, one was from the Dhaka division while the other two were from the Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions respectively. The report said that the deaths occurred between 8:00 am on Sunday and 8:00 am on Monday. Since March 15, a total of 648 children have died with measles symptoms, while 93 deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles, bringing the overall death toll to 741. According to the DGHS, 947 more people developed measles symptoms nationwide during the last 24 hours. Since March 15, the cumulative number of suspected measles cases has reached 106,565.
