Around 600 tourists have been stranded in the Sajek tourist destination in Rangamati's Baghaichhari upazila after heavy rain and flash floods submerged parts of the Sajek-Baghaihat road.

According to the Sajek Resort and Cottage Owners' Association, a bridge and two sections of the road in the Machalong area went under water, cutting off access to and from Sajek.

Association President Surpon Debbarma said all stranded tourists were safe but would not be able to leave until floodwaters recede.

He also said resorts and cottages would not charge additional room rent for tourists forced to extend their stay, adding that they would only have to pay for water usage.
