The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 432 people for various offences across the capital in the past 24 hours and filed 54 cases during the same period.
The information was disclosed on Wednesday by DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi.
He said that the arrests were made during the DMP's regular anti-crime drives, during which police also recovered locally made weapons and narcotics.
Of those arrested, 50 were detained by the Ramna Division while 33 in Lalbagh Division, 59 in Wari Division, 49 in Motijheel and Tejgaon Division, 107 in Mirpur Division, 45 in Gulshan Division, 37 in Uttara Division and three in Detective Branch (DB).
Police also seized 16.54 kilograms of cannabis, 446 yaba tablets, 32 grams of heroin, a motorcycle, a shooter machine, a wood-cutting machine, a grinding machine and a stand fan from the suspects' possession.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, the DMP official added.
