Curran's Unbeaten Century Powers Zimbabwe to Challenging 247 Against Bangladesh
Ben Curran struck a magnificent unbeaten century as Zimbabwe recovered from an early collapse to post a competitive 247 for 6 against Bangladesh in the third ODI at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday, setting the visitors a challenging target of 248 for victory.
After being put into bat, Zimbabwe endured a shaky start as Taskin Ahmed ripped through the top order with two early wickets. The Bangladesh pacer dismissed Brian Bennett in the opening over before removing Innocent Kaia in his second spell. Nahid Rana then bowled Craig Ervine for 9, while Wesley Madhevere managed only 15, leaving the hosts struggling at 66 for 4.
Curran then steadied the innings alongside Sikandar Raza, who contributed 33 before falling to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Following the dismissal of Clive Madande, Curran found another reliable partner in Brad Evans as the pair stitched together an unbeaten stand that lifted Zimbabwe to a formidable total.
Curran reached his century off 122 deliveries and remained unbeaten on 111, anchoring the innings with a composed knock. Evans provided the late acceleration, smashing an unbeaten 58 off just 36 balls.
Zimbabwe finished on 247 for 6 from their allotted 50 overs, with Bangladesh now requiring 248 runs to win the match and level the series.
