Families, educational institutions, private organizations and all stakeholders have been called on by President Mohammad Shahabuddin to work with the government for the development of the country’s youth.
The call was issued in a message on Friday ahead of World Population Day 2026, to be observed on Saturday (July 11).
The President said, Bangladesh is one of the most populous countries of the world, with one-third of it comprising the youth.
Young people are the driving force of the nation. Country’s large population can become a valuable human resource if provided with opportunities.
He added the government is committed in developing young people into educated, skilled, self-reliant and ethical citizens. Initiatives are underway to modernize education and make it more employment-oriented.
The president stated that special emphasis is being placed on technical and vocational education, digital skills and innovation to strengthen youth leadership and creativity.
He also said the government is expanding awareness programmes to combat drug abuse, child marriage and violence, while strengthening social safety nets and ensuring strict enforcement of the law.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin hoped that these initiatives would improve the quality of life of the emerging youth and contribute to social stability and sustainable development.
