Iran strikes Gulf region; Qatar, Kuwait, UAE activate air defense systems

Iran has launched simultaneous military attacks across five countries in the Gulf region. The attacks came in response to the latest US attacks.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the army confirmed the attacks and said, Missile and drone attackes were carried out on various US military installations in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Strait of Hormuz.

However, reports came from several countries confirming interception of the attacks.

Al Jazeera confirmed, Iran claimed it carried out a "severe and sudden" attack in Oman. The target was a US logistics support center and fuel supply platform at Duqm Port, used for aircraft carriers.

Citing Iranian state media IRIB, the IRGC stated that those installations were destroyed. The IRGC called this the third phase of their retaliatory operations against US strikes.

Meanwhile, the Iranian army announced that US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain were hit by multiple waves of drone attacks. 

The statement added that a US communication system and a radar installation in Bahrain were also targeted by drone attacks.

The Iranian army claimed these operations were in response to continuous US attacks in southern Iran. On the other hand, the Kuwaiti army stated that they are intercepting "projectiles" entering the country's airspace.

The IRGC also claimed that several ballistic missiles were fired at US military installations at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan. In a statement carried by IRIB, the IRGC said the attack destroyed a command and control center and several hangars housing MQ-9 drones.

The Qatar Ministry of Defense stated that the country's armed forces successfully intercepted a missile fired toward Qatar. In the meantime, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stated that their air defense systems are actively working to intercept missiles and drones fired from Iran.

The UAE Ministry of Defense stated that the sounds of explosions heard in various locations were caused by the air defense systems intercepting the missiles and drones.

Another vessel crossing through the Strait of Hormuz was stopped by the IRGC. They warned of a more "destructive" response if the alleged "aggression" by the US and Israel continues.
