
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a special forecast for the country's inland river ports. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain across a large part of the country from 5 am to 1 pm today.
This information was given in a notification signed by meteorologist Md. Omar Faruk on behalf of the Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department on Monday (July 13).
According to the notification, these stormy winds may blow over 19 regions of the country. The regions are: Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Jessore, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet.
The forecast states that there may be rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour over the above mentioned areas.
Due to this adverse weather, river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1 (re-warning signal number 1). Vessels have been advised to proceed with caution
