Heavy rains have been lashing various parts of the country for the past few days. The continuous heavy rains are causing the water levels of several rivers to rise, causing severe flooding in the Chittagong region, while waterlogging in the capital is disrupting city life.
At a time when the countrymen are worried about the overall situation, the Meteorological Department has not yet issued any weather forecast for the day. The agency said that there is a risk of heavy to very heavy rain in various parts of the country on Monday (July 13).
The Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain/thunderstorm accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur in most places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and many places of Khulna and Barisal divisions by 6 pm on Monday (July 13). Along with this, moderate to heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Daytime temperatures may slightly decrease and night temperatures may slightly increase across the country.
Meanwhile, there is also increasing concern about the weather in the capital Dhaka. Earlier, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department recorded a maximum rainfall of 175 millimeters in Dhaka in the last 24 hours.
The synoptic weather forecast states that the axis of the monsoon extends from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to central Bangladesh and to Assam. An extension of this extends to the North Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is active over Bangladesh and is in a moderate state in the North Bay of Bengal. Due to this, thundershowers and rains may continue in most parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions and in many places of Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions for the next 24 hours after 6 pm on Monday.
During this time, there may be moderate to heavy rainfall in some places and daytime temperatures may increase slightly across the country.
