Government forces of Yemen have launched an attack on the international airport in Sanaa, capital of Yemen. The attack was carried out to prevent an Iranian plane landing in the airport. Al Jazeera reported this on Monday (July 13).
The country’s government said that Iran-backed Houthi militias blocked a Yemeni plane from landing at Sanaa airport. After that, they pressurized to allow an Iranian plane to cross Yemen’s airspace and land. For this reason, the airport runway was targeted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense ordered civilians, workers, diplomatic missions, and humanitarian organizations to immediately evacuate the airport and its surrounding areas until further notice.
The Houthi rebels blamed Saudi Arabia for the attack on the runway and warned of retaliation. However, the group did not present any evidence to support their claim.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a warning that no one would be spared regarding this attack. An appropriate response will be given.
