RAB arrests 2 with gaja worth Tk1.8 lakh in Bagerhat

RAB-6 personnel arrested two individuals with six kilograms of gaja from the Katakhali area of Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat. The detainees were sent to jail via a Bagerhat court on Tuesday morning (July 14).

Acting on a tip-off, a team from RAB-6 conducted a raid in the Katakhali area on Monday afternoon.

The arrestees were identified as Saim Majhi (20), son of Md. Sohrab Hossain Majhi from Juskola in Pirojpur, and Md. Tuhin Howlader (15), son of Shahjamal Howlader from Jiodhara in Bagerhat’s Morrelganj upazila.

During the operation, the team recovered six kilograms of gaja from their possession. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at BDT 180,000. The duo was later handed over to the local police.

Fakirhat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Saiful Islam confirmed the incident. He stated that a case has been filed against the detainees under the Narcotics Control Act. The accused have been sent to jail following a court order.
