
BANDARBAN, July 16: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu on Wednesday said the government would rebuild houses damaged by the recent floods, assist affected farmers with seeds and seedlings, and repair damaged roads and educational institutions.
"The government stands beside people affected by the disaster," the minister said while addressing residents after visiting flood-hit areas in Bharakhali under Kuhalong Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila.
He said families whose houses had been damaged or destroyed would receive government support for reconstruction.
"We will help farmers whose seedbeds and crops have been damaged by providing seeds and seedlings. We will also work to repair roads and educational institutions that have been affected," he said.
Following the visit, the minister distributed relief materials among flood-affected families in the area.
Among those present were Bandarban-300 MP Saching Prue Jerry, Deputy Commissioner Md Saniul Ferdous, Superintendent of Police Md Wahabul Islam Khandaker, Bandarban Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Marufa Sultana Khan Hiramoni, senior officials from various government departments, and local residents.
