Rath Jatra begins

The annual Rath Jatra of Sri Sri Jagannath Deb began in the capital on Thursday with a colourful procession and the participation of thousands of devotees.

Organised by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Bangladesh, the procession commenced from the Swamibag ISKCON Ashram at around 2:30pm following a discussion meeting, marking the start of the nine-day religious festival.

The festival will conclude on July 24 with the Ulto Rath Jatra , when the chariot will return from the Dhakeshwari National Temple to Swamibag Ashram along the same route.
