2 youths killed in motorcycle accident on way back from watching game

Two youths were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a trolley and a motorcycle in Sharsha, Jessore. The accident occurred at around 6 am on Monday (July 20) at the last boundary of Rudrapur village in Sharsha upazila.

The deceased were identified as Midul Hasan Nahid (25), son of Jahangir Bhandari of Daulatpur village under Benapole Port police station, and Sohag Hossain Usha (27), son of Jamat Ali of the same village.

The injured are Rubel (30), son of Shahjahan, from the same village, trolley driver Amirul, and helper Nirab. The trolley driver and helper are residents of Rudrapur village in Sharsha upazila.

According to local sources, after watching the football match between Argentina and Spain on Sunday night, Nahid, Usha and Rubel were going to Rudrapur market for tea on a motorcycle in the morning. At that time, a trolley was speeding towards Goga to bring bricks from the brick kiln. When they reached Rudrapur area, the two vehicles collided head-on. Nahid and Usha were killed on the spot. 

Later, locals rescued the injured Rubel, the trolley driver and the helper and sent them to the 250-bed Jessore General Hospital.

Sharsha Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Chanchal confirmed the incident and said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two deceased youths. The motorcycle and trolley involved in the accident have been seized and taken to the police station. The bodies will be handed over to the family after the legal process is completed.
