Journalist Saidur Rahman appointed Press Minister at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi

Journalist Mohammad Saidur Rahman has been appointed as Minister (Press) at the Press Wing of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, India, on a one-year contractual basis.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Monday confirming his appointment.

According to the notification, Saidur Rahman has been appointed under a contract for one year, subject to the condition that he relinquishes any other profession, business, or employment relationship with any government, semi-government, private organisation or institution. His appointment will come into effect from the date he joins the post.

The terms and conditions of his appointment will be finalised through a contract, the notification added.

Saidur Rahman has been working with The Daily Ittefaq for a long time. He served as the president of the Reporters Forum for Election and Democracy (RFED) for the 2023-2024 session.

A student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka, Saidur belonged to the 2003-04 academic batch. He is also a former general secretary of the Dhaka University Journalists' Association.

Hailing from Kalaroa in Satkhira, Saidur Rahman is currently serving as the unit chief of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) at The Daily Ittefaq.
