Jamaat promises action on MP Nazrul viral video

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami announced that it would take necessary measures under organizational rules regarding a viral video involving Satkhira-4 Member of Parliament Gazi Nazrul Islam.

The party stated its position in a press release signed on Tuesday, July 21 by Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, Assistant Secretary General and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department.

According to the statement, Jamaat is closely monitoring the reports published across various media outlets and social media platforms concerning Gazi Nazrul Islam.

The party noted that separate statements from Gazi Nazrul Islam, his first and second wives, and a video statement from his father-in-law (second wife's father) have already been published regarding the incident.

The controversy arose after a personal video involving Gazi Nazrul Islam began circulating on social media on Monday July 20 night, sparking widespread discussion across digital platforms.

In his defense, Gazi Nazrul Islam issued a statement claiming the video depicts private moments between him and his legally wedded second wife. He alleged that the footage was recorded and leaked as part of a conspiracy to politically misrepresent the situation, rejecting all allegations of an extramarital affair.

However, the authenticity of the video and the surrounding claims could not be independently verified.
