Govt restores previous recruitment rules for MPO institutions

The government has withdrawn the authority given to deputy commissioners (DCs) to recommend appointments of officers and employees at MPO-enlisted private educational institutions, restoring the previous recruitment system.

The Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education issued a circular in this regard on Tuesday.

Signed by Joint Secretary Syed A.Z.M. Morshed Ali of the Private Secondary Branch, the circular said the recruitment guidelines issued on January 10, 2024, have been reinstated for recommending appointments to non-teaching MPO posts at MPO-enlisted private junior secondary schools, secondary schools, higher secondary schools, colleges and degree (pass) colleges.

The circular also cancelled the previous order issued on September 28, 2025.

However, it said the provisions under clauses 2.4 (a), (b) and (c) of the 2024 guidelines relating to the appointment of principals, vice-principals, headmasters and assistant headmasters will remain outside the scope of the latest decision.

As a result, appointments to non-teaching MPO posts, including trade assistant, office assistant-cum-computer operator, office assistant-cum-accounts assistant, computer lab operator, laboratory assistant, security guard, cleaner, night guard, aya and office support staff, will again be made under the 2024 guidelines.

Under the latest decision, the authority to recommend appointments to these posts will return to the respective governing bodies and management committees of educational institutions.
