KHULNA, July 22: Members of RAB-6 arrested a fugitive accused in a murder case and a suspected drug trader in separate operations in Faridpur and Satkhira districts.
A joint team of RAB-6 CPC-3, Jashore, and RAB-6 Bhatiapara Camp arrested Rahman Sheikh, 25, the second accused in the murder case of Fakir Alinur of Lohagara Upazila in Narail, from Hasamdia area under Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur early Tuesday.
RAB said the victim had reportedly lent Tk 18,000 to the accused about five months ago for business purposes. As the money was not repaid, the accused asked the victim to meet him on Kumardanga Government Primary School playground on the night of July 18.
When Alinur arrived there, he was allegedly attacked by Rahman and several others using sharp weapons, iron rods and sticks. Critically injured Alinur was taken to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, the victim’s brother, Aminul Fakir, filed a murder case with Lohagara Police Station (PS). The arrested was later handed over to the police for further legal action.
In another drive, RAB-6 CPC-1 arrested an alleged drug trader Md Hossain Ali, 38, of Kharhat Village in Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira District along with 594 bottles of Phensedyl-like “Wincanex” syrup during a raid in Kharhat area on Monday night. A case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act and he was handed over to Kaliganj PS.
