One killed in Gurudaspur road mishap

GURUDASPUR, NATORE, July 22: A truck helper was killed and at least 12 people, including eight Russian citizens, were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a freight truck in the Talbaria area of the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway in Gurudaspur Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.

The deceased, Emon, 22, was the son of Zahurul Islam of Kholabaria area in Natore Sadar Upazila. 
According to police, fire service and local sources, a Dhaka-bound truck from Natore and a passenger bus from Dhaka to Rooppur in Ishwardi of Pabna collided head-on in the Talbaria area, leaving Emon dead on the spot and 12 injured. The injured were rescued and sent to the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Bonpara Highway Police Station Moniruzzaman confirmed the incident.
