NCP seeks clarification on BD-US trade deal

The National Citizen Party (NCP) on Wednesday said it had sought clarifications from United States representatives over Bangladesh's recent trade agreement with Washington, while reiterating that it had not been consulted before the deal was concluded.

Speaking at a press briefing at the party's central office in Bangla Motor, NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan said the 
party had reviewed various aspects of the agreement and sought explanations from the US side on issues requiring clarification.

"We have also analysed Bangladesh's recent trade agreement with the United States and sought necessary explanations from the US representatives. We reviewed various aspects of the agreement, asked for clear explanations on the issues that needed clarification, and received the necessary responses," he said.

"We believe discussions should have been held with an important stakeholder like the NCP before such a major national decision was taken," he added.
