Barrister Suman secures HC bail

The High Court has granted bail to former Habiganj-4 MP Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman in an attempted murder case filed with Chunarughat Police.

A High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice Md Zakir Hossain finalised an earlier issued rule and cleared him for release on Wednesday.

Lawyer M Liton Ahmed argued for the defence, while Deputy Attorney General Md Isa represented the state.

After the hearing, Liton told bdnews24.com that the High Court had granted Suman bail in the attempted murder case filed on Jul 16, 2024, adding that it took 21 months for him to walk free in this case.

Updating on the status of the other cases against the former MP, the lawyer said Suman faces a total of seven cases.

Of these, only the first attempted murder case filed with Mirpur Police has been fully finalised, including at the Appellate Division.

With Wednesday’s order added to that, four remaining cases, filed at Khilgaon, Mugda, Adabor and other police stations, are still awaiting rule hearings at the High Court, Liton added.�"bdnews24
