The National Legal Help Services Organisation (Legal Aid) has resolved 211,441 disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms since 2009, benefiting more than 413,000 people, according to its latest activity report.

The report, published on the organisation's website and covering the period from 2009 to May 2026, states that ADR initiatives, both before and after the filing of cases, were undertaken in 239,426 disputes. Of these, 211,441 cases were successfully resolved, benefiting a total of 413,037 people.

According to the report, the government also provided legal assistance to 1,487,663 financially disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals during the same period at state expense.

The legal aid services covered litigants before the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court, subordinate courts across the country, labour courts and indigent prisoners held in correctional facilities.

The services are provided under the Legal Aid Services Act through a state-funded legal assistance programme aimed at ensuring access to justice for financially insolvent and disadvantaged litigants.

The National Legal Aid Services Organisation, operating under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, is responsible for implementing the programme nationwide.
