Ex-JCD leader chopped dead in Bogura

BOGURA, July 23: Police have arrested a woman named Shapla and taken her into their custody for questioning on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Atiqur Rahman Sagar, 26, son of Shahadat Mandal of Panchbaria Village in Sakharia Union of Bogura Sadar Upazila and a former convener of Sakharia Union Chhatra Dal.

According to the deceased’s family and local sources, Sagar Mandal was standing in the courtyard of his in-laws’ house in Chalitabari Village at around 2 am on Thursday. 

Suddenly, hearing a commotion outside, his wife Marzia Khatun came out and saw that a group of 20 to 25 people, including Sagar’s cousin Julhas, started attacking Sagar with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured. 

He was rushed to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. 
Bogra Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mahfuz Alam said that Sagar was accused in six cases.
